Information You Submit
A name, telephone number, or address entered in a search box is sent to the outside provider that supplies those results. Our servers do not retain a copy of that search. When you contact us, we use the contents of your message only to respond.
Routine Technical Data
Standard hosting logs may record an IP address, browser type, requested pages, and times. Aggregate review helps diagnose faults and measure page use. Basic analytics and advertising measurement may also rely on cookies or comparable technology.
What We Do With This Data
We use this limited data to run the service, repair errors, measure traffic, and improve content. Visitor lists are not sold, and we do not create individual user profiles.
Links to Other Websites
We link out to county and state records portals, library collections, archives, and third-party search tools. Their privacy policies, not ours, govern what you submit there. That is especially true of the sponsored search results, which a third-party company provides.
Who Might See Your Data
The service providers that host and support the site process server logs for us. Analytics and advertising partners may receive the automatic data described above. We disclose data when a valid legal process requires it, and not otherwise.
How We Protect Your Data
The site runs over an encrypted connection and logs are kept only as long as the purposes above need them. There are no accounts here, so no password or profile of yours exists on this site to be exposed.
Users Under 18
The site is meant for adults and is not directed at children. We do not knowingly collect personal information from anyone under 18; if you believe a minor has sent us information, contact us and we will delete it.
Your Data Rights
Privacy rights can vary with the visitor's location. Illinois FOIA, 5 ILCS 140, governs access to public-body records and permits lawful redaction, but it does not make this private site the custodian of those files. Because we retain little data, a request usually involves checking our contact mailbox and server logs. Use the Contact page to ask. Requests to correct or remove a Palatine, Cook County, or Illinois public record must go to the government office that keeps it.
Updates to This Policy
Any change to this policy will be posted on this page. Using the site after a change means you accept the updated version.
